October Bread Making Class
Saturday, October 20, 2018
9am - 3pm
Seminary Hill Farm
Welcome to Bread Making at Seminary Hill Farm with Baker Sarah Black!
You are invited to join us at Seminary Hill Farm on Saturday, October 20th for a morning class on bread making led by our team member Sarah Black, the professional baker of Seminary Hill Farm Kitchen. When you arrive, our team will be there to welcome you with cold apple cider, strong hot coffee and warm pumpkin bread. The bread making class will begin with an instructional overview demonstrating the basics of bread making. We will follow the arc of a bread’s life and incorporate the heritage grains now available for baking. During this class period, you will also have the opportunity to mix a dough and shape a dough. As the shaped dough proofs to bake, we will gather and enjoy a meal prepared by the Seminary Hill Farm Kitchen team. The seasonal lunch menu will be posted once the harvest schedule for October has been determined.
During this time, Tadd Petersen, who created and oversees the extensive and diverse farming operations, and James Akers, the Executive Chef at Seminary Hill Farm Kitchen, will talk about how Seminary Hill Farm was started and the vision we have for the future as a farm, food and bread destination. We will also be announcing information about the kinds of classes we hope to offer for the following year.
After lunch, we will return to the Seminary Hill Farm kitchen where we will complete the day by baking off our bread. At the end of class, you will be given a complete bread recipe with instructions for making it, a container of dough to bake the following day, and a bread to serve for dinner. Space is limited so make sure to sign up and reserve your place for this memorable bread baking class with Sarah Black.
*This class promises a complete hands-on experience so make sure to bring an apron.
